Outside it was raw and gloomy, but inside the gym of the old Mystic school on Friday, September 28, the energy was fever-pitched and contagious! For one hour Philadelphia-based dance troupe Illstyle and Peace Productions wowed the packed audience of Kids’ Corner youngsters, teachers, parents and visitors with presentations of hip-hop dance moves. Starting with the 1970s, they explained how popping, locking, and breaking moves came to be, then demonstrated the moves with solo and group dance performances. Before the afternoon ended, boys and girls had “gone on stage” to show off their moves. Teachers were pulled forward to dance, too, with performances of original moves that delighted the audience. Throughout the afternoon the troupe spread messages of peace and positivity, while sharing their personal experiences around how dreams can come true.
This event was co-sponsored with Kids’ Corner.
