Winchester 2016 Light It Up Blue Lighting Ceremony Cancelled on Account of Rain Predicted

April 26, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

(4/25/2016: Light It Up Blue Lighting Ceremony scheduled for tomorrow is CANCELLED.
Hope to see you next year!)

For the fourth year the Winchester Town Common will be a sea of blue — blue balloons, blue articles of clothing, blue light bracelets, etc. — as the community gathers for the Light It Up Blue Lighting Ceremony in support of national Autism Awareness. This year, the lighting ceremony will be held April 26, at 7 pm. 100 blue carnations will be handed out to the first 100 people (thanks to Pondview Florist) and blue glazed donuts will again be donated by Dunkin Donuts. Guests speakers will be Jennifer Flaherty, Special Education Teacher at Lynch Elementary School, with some of her students and John Williams, an award-winning collage artist who is also on the autism spectrum. At the end of the ceremony the Town Common will be lit with blue color lights.

All are invited. Wear something blue!

Get a complimentary copy of our Light It Up Blue, Winchester! for Autism Awareness booklet for information on autism and special activities sponsored by Town organizations and businesses to mark the month. Copies will be available at Dunkin Donuts, Pondview Florist, Studio on the Common, Griffin Photography Museum, Winchester Public Library, Book Ends, Kids Footstop, Scoopalooza and the office of the Multicultural Network.
