The US Immigration System, designed to profit from the oppression of people of color, is a system that allowed the President to institute a policy of separating migrant families, tearing children from their parents’ arms and putting them into cages. Although public outcry caused him to reverse the practice of separating families, the executive order instead doubles down on “zero tolerance” by criminalizing those who seek a legitimate means of entering our country, and instead just jailing families and children together. This is not any kind of solution.
To harness the groundswell of anger and energy the revelation of these awful and inhumane policies has instigated, a coalition of national organizations, with hundreds of local and state-based immigrant-serving and mobilization groups, have announced a National Day of Action to take place on Saturday, June 30.
As has been our mission since the emergence and rise to mainstream prominence of a national agenda that seeks to marginalize and divide us, we will show up for the most vulnerable members of our communities. March Forward Massachusetts is proud to join the coalition of organizations producing Boston’s contribution to the National Day of Action at Boston City Hall Plaza, led by those whose work with immigrant populations for years will be uplifted on this day.
Please join us to express our clear and sincere intentions: that we will not rest until families are reunified, deportations are ended, ICE is abolished, we pass a clean Dream Act, immigrant families are protected and welcomed in Massachusetts and everywhere, and we succeed together in recreating a more just and fairer system of immigration for all.
