July 24, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Mass Incarceration Working Group is co-hosting a debate for Middlesex County District Attorney candidates on Tuesday, July 24, 7-9 p.m. at the First Parish UU of Arlington. District Attorneys have an enormous impact on who gets charged, incarcerated, and burdened with a criminal record — and as far as we know this will be the only DA candidates debate in Middlesex County!

District Attorneys are the most powerful people in the criminal justice system – and they are accountable only to voters. Join us to learn more about the
power DAs wield in our communities – and hear from the Middlesex County District Attorney candidates. You will also hear from candidates for the Governor’s Council, which has the power to appoint judges and Parole Board members.

This evening will be co-hosted by the ACLU,Mass Incarceration Working Group, Leagues of Women Voters of Arlington, Lexington, and Winchester, and Arlington Community Media Inc. (ACMI), and will include a mini-debate between the District 3 candidates for Governor’s Council, which approves judges and Parole Board members.

If you live in Middlesex County, could you help in any of the following ways?

  1. We have a Facebook event – Could you share it, indicate whether you are going or interested (if you use Facebook), and encourage other people to do the same.
  2. Ask your cable access station to televise the show that Arlington Cable Access station will be filming.
