This is a WIT (Winchester In Transition) event
Written by award-winning playwright Joyce Van Dyke, The Golden Door is set in an Armenian grocery store in a transitional Boston neighborhood. Ani, the third-generation Armenian-American owner, runs the failing store with her Italian-American husband, Marco.
Unexpected events bring immigrants from Mexico, China and the Caribbean along with descendants of immigrants from Eastern Europe and Ireland into the store. As the customers struggle to honor their heritage while trying to fit in as Americans, they change not only the way they see each other, but also the future of the store.
The Golden Door is a full length production with music, dance, and stories, suitable for ages 7 and older.
In Good Company creates engaging, original musical theater inspired by stories from American history and culture. The ensemble of adults, teens, and children presents performances throughout New England and school programs in the Greater Boston area.
Location: Chidley Hall at the First Congregational Church, “On the Common”
